With the success of Canadian artists such as Drake, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd on an international level, currently the top three male artists in the world, and with Shawn Mendes, and Alessia Cara on the rise as well, Toronto Canada has firmly cemented itself as the place to find musical talent in the urban industry. Music Nation Foundation was created in 2012 with the mandate to educate, promote and showcase new and emerging Canadian Hip Hop, RnB and Pop music artists. MNF had already organized multiple evening showcases over their 1st three years, but artists required more opportunities to perform.
TDOT Fest was MNF’s next logical step.
In the fall of 2015, the 1st annual TDOT Fest was born, showcasing over 40 Indie Artists and a number of mainstream artists such as Karl Wolf, Fito Blanko and Christina Sayers from Girlicious. It was an outstanding success, with just over 6000 people attending the festival throughout the day at Yonge -Dundas Square.
TDOT Fest is more than just music, however.
MNF reached out to:
- local urban dance schools, giving their students the
opportunity to showcase their talents.
- local food trucks and food vendors with international
faire to create a true culinary experience.
TDOT Fest, has quickly become the most popular free community
urban festival in Toronto, and is now looking at
expanding their marketing and sponsorship, to become one of the most
sought after indie urban music festivals in the province.
